Miscellaneous Meanderings of the Mind

I have several thoughts floating around that I thought I would get down on paper, or digital media anyway.
  • 541 people witnessed 18 youth affirm their faith in Christ as their savior this Sunday. What a glorious time of worship. God was certainly praised. Kevin's message was right on target. It should be posted online later today. Go to www.goodshepherdumc.org and select "worship stuff" to go to the listing of messages.
  • VayKay - Nancy and I are going to try to get away for a few days starting tomorrow. We're doing the Branson thing. Nancy has made friends with someone who works at Dixieland Stampede. So I guess I'll get to enjoy that fun-filled show. (Really not my style, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it nevertheless.)
  • JD turned 16 yesterday and he'll take a shot at getting his driver's license today. Pray for him. He's a pretty good driver, but you never know. I remember I had the benefit of a semester of Driver's Ed in school and so the test was a breeze. Insurance, legal issues, and tax restraints have taken this program out of most of our schools. I would be willing to bet that has translated to a higher driver's test failure rate, and worse, a higher rate of accidents. So the insurance companies that won't insure the schools to have the class are bearing the cost of insuring the drivers... oh no their not, we are!
  • Steph came in for JD's birthday and brought 2 year old Lauren, a girl whose family Steph lives with. Nancy babysat for Lauren when we was an infant and until she was about a year old. I don't know who enjoyed the visit the most. It was sure fun to watch though.
  • I'm teaching a class on worship planning to the licensing school (for pastors) today. I'm looking forward to it. I've had a variety of worship planning experiences and think I have much to share. I really should be bringing my worship team though. They continually teach me the value of making worship planning a collaborative effort.

May Christ be in your heart all day long and throughout your week.

Quite a difference from when we visited a year ago. Kevin preached just as he did last year on May 21, 2006. If you want to talk about it call me.

Just an FYI, Oak Park does have drivers ed. Both of my kids took it. Of course they don't really get to drive and the simulators are the same ones that were there 20 years ago with the same video showing! Oak Park is one of the few schools around that offers driver's ed and doesn't charge for it! Hope JD passed!
