Some jobs take a bigger hammer. In Matthew 9 there are several
healings. However the chapter begins with the story of Jesus telling a man "I forgive your sins." To which the religious establishment screams "blasphemy."
Afterall, only God can forgive sins. Jesus, undaunted, says "which is easier, to forgive sins or to heal. Well... just so you understand I have the power to do both... {turning to the man who cannot walk, he says}... Take up your mat and walk."
Now that's a pretty big hammer. However what follows in this chapter are four specific healings and the mention of many more. He also calls a tax collector {read, big time sinner} to follow and spends time with the sinner's friends. Now, that's using a fairly big hammer to drive home a point.
Sometimes, in my faith life, I just don't get it. If I'm observant I'll see God using a mighty big hammer to drive home the points I'm missing.
