Goal #4

Those first three goals (see below) have to do with the direction of the church. The next two have to do with my job as the staff leader at Good Shepherd.

One of the most important thing a church can do (and the same is true for any non-profit organization) is to keep constant contact with it's constituency/parishioners as well as communicate the mission and opportunities of the church. Right now that task is divided into several pieces and distributed to various staff members. For instance, external communications such as mailers, advertising and the like are handled by Marsha. She also handles most of the work on signage and lobby displays. Colene is responsible for internal communications such as the Sunday program/bulletin, flyers for the notebooks and any other materials that are distributed to our membership/attenders. The website is up to several people to maintain, but I've taken on the overall management of it.

Having a single person who had these responsibilities would allow us to have a more uniform and directed communication effort that would allow us to be much more effective. This person would also free up the other staff members to be more effective in their other areas of responsibility. Initially this would be a part time job entitled Director of Communications.

As we seek to address Goal #3 it would be very helpful to have a staff member who was responsible for carrying out the process that has been developed. Initially this would be a part time job entitled Director of Adult Ministries.

Finally, we live in a technological and visual age. Our worship currently employs many facets of visual production. We can do a lot more. A part time director of Media would be able to plan and produce far more visual effects for Sundays and other meetings than we can do with our current staff structure.

None of these positions has a clear start date. Instead we will be looking to our finance team to give us the nod when offerings have come up to a level to allow us to offer these positions in further service to you. My goal is to develop job descriptions, interview and hire for these positions as funds become available.
