I've covered the 4 goals that have to do with the church as a whole. Now let me share my goals for my own personal health and growth. We all need to be constantly updating our knowledge, our spiritual connection to God, and our physical health. Those are the three areas I've asked our staff to focus on. I asked them all to consider what they were learning and from whom they were learning. That learning translates directly into improved ministry at Good Shepherd. Mike Slaughter (Pastor and author) states that there is no leadership that doesn't begin with self leadership. In order to lead in an organization that is focused on the Spirit of God, staff must be connected to that very Spirit, hence that goal. Finally, physical health is connected to spiritual health. God didn't make us spirits without a body, or bodies without a soul, we are both. A healthy leader is one who also focuses on their physical health.
My goal for learning is to attend at least one national conference related to church leadership. Additionally I will seek to attend conferences held in our state to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge found in our own region as well as the experts that are brought in from other areas.
